The pick of tonight’s TV has to be the return of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which begins it’s second series on Channel 4 at 8pm. Although the first season did receive some criticism (arguably more so from vocal comic book fans than casual viewers), it was a fun, if at times uneven, start to a show that began to find it’s feet as the series progressed. This second series opener sees Agent Phil Coulson attempt to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. but he is forced to branch out to find new resources and allies as his team face up to the reality of being the underdogs as they continue to battle an ever growing list of enemies.
Tomorrow Tony Robinson makes a welcome return as
Walking Through History begins it's third series on Channel 4 at 8pm. The first episode sees Robinson visit the moors and valleys of West Yorkshire, an evocative landscape which is the home of, and inspiration for, the Brontes, the remarkable literary family that produced Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre.
Our top movie pick this weekend is the delightful
Hugo on Channel 4 at 6:40pm on Sunday. Martin Scorsese's fantasy adventure, based on Brian Selznick's illustrated novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret, is a family-friendly extravaganza about a lonely boy secretly living in the hidden spaces of a Parisian train station.
And finally, our pick of this weekend’s sport is Ford Football Sunday on Sky Sports 1 at 3:30pm as Manchester United host Chelsea. The Blues have been dominant this season and sit comfortably at the top of the table, while big spending United's form under Louis van Gaal has been inconstant to say the least.
